Unakite Bear Pouch (Sold)

Sold - No Longer Available.
This little necklace pouch is woven with the orange inner bark of Eastern Red Cedar, the grey outer bark of the Willow, and the white leaves of the Bear Grass, from the mountains of Montana. The shiny greenish twined rows are made with Rattlesnake Master leaves. These plants are tall-grass prairie natives that were once commonly found in Missouri. The necklace cord is hand twisted 2-ply cordage made with Basswood fiber. The inner bark is rotted for six weeks in a pond, then rinsed and peeled apart into tissue-thin layers. The latch bead is the Unakite stone bear. The dangle of beads includes black Canna seeds, orange horn heishi, and shell heishi. All the woven materials for this basket were gathered and prepared entirely by hand, from the standing trees and plants, to the finished basket.
