Description
The sides of this little basket are made entirely with the twining technique, which makes it tight and durable. The Native Americans used twining for their water jugs, which were then covered in melted pine pitch, making them impervious to water. Rattlesnake Master is a native tall grass prairie plant that was once very common in the Midwestern prairies. Yucca is a very tough, fibrous plant whose leaves are practically impossible to tear, and were used by the southwestern tribes for everything from woven clothing to sandals. All the materials for this little basket were gathered and prepared entirely by hand.
